Animal Rescue Kochi
Safe Haven For The Voiceless

Animal Rescue Kochi (ARK) is the only registered animal rescue trust in Kochi, Kerala with a dedicated rescue centre (RegistrationNo.189/IV/2020).

ARK is a non-profit organisation dedicated to animal welfare and community health. Our rescue centre, located in Kandakkadavu, Kannamaly, operates with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the local Panchayat and currently accommodates more than 100 abandoned, injured, and vulnerable animals.

We conduct awareness programmes in schools, colleges, and other institutions to promote responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and rabies prevention. ARK also organises adoption camps to help rehome rescued animals into loving families.

In collaboration with Mission Rabies India, Animal Rescue Kochi launched the district’s first 24/7 rabies hotline. Through official Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the Cochin Municipal Corporation, Chellanam Panchayat, and Kumbalangi Panchayat, we provide free anti-rabies vaccination for community dogs and pet dogs.

Our education team conducts specialised rabies awareness sessions for schools, colleges, government offices, and community groups.

ARK operates the district’s only dedicated quarantine facility for suspected rabies cases and is equipped to conduct rapid rabies screening using Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs).

We also have an operation theatre facility to support Animal Birth Control (ABC) programmes. To date, ARK has facilitated the sterilisation of more than 500 animals through partnerships with private veterinary hospitals and sterilisation campaigns conducted by Worldwide Veterinary Services (WVS).

Our vision is to create a rabies-free Kochi within the coming years. We have expanded our Mission Rabies vaccination programme to additional local bodies across Ernakulam district, including Maradu Municipality, Tripunithura Municipality, Thrikkakara Municipality, and Kalamassery Municipality.

Our outreach has also extended to neighbouring areas of Alappuzha district bordering Ernakulam, including Aroor Panchayat, Arookutty Panchayat, Ezhupunna Panchayat, and Kuthiathode Panchayat.

As one of the few active animal rescue organisations in the region, ARK receives numerous calls and messages each day regarding injured, sick, abandoned, and distressed animals. Our mission is to build a rabies-free, population-controlled community where animals are treated with compassion, dignity, and respect, free from abuse and neglect. We believe this vision can be achieved through the collective support of government agencies, local communities, and our dedicated supporters.
